(NEW) The rarest and most prized guitar in the Waterloo lineup is the WL-S Deluxe. These are built in small batches a few times a year, they don’t come around very often and they don’t last long when they do! When you play one, it’s not hard to see why!
Based on a historic Stella model, the WL-S Deluxe is rich with beautiful appointments, fits-like-a-glove specs and most importantly, amazing SOUND. The thin varnish finish makes this guitar ultra-responsive, the sound really jumps out of it as you play. We love the combination of Sitka spruce top and cherry back/sides. Cherry is a domestic hardwood that is rare in modern guitars, but we think that will change when more players experience the complex yet woody sound that it helps to produce.
The WL-S is a ladder braced, short (24.9″) scale guitar that has a two-way adjustable truss rod standard. It is feather-light, rivaling the WL-K for the lightest steel-string guitar in the store at any given moment. The cosmetics are deluxe indeed, with marquetry purfling on the top and back borders, backstrip and rosette. The body, neck and peghead are full bound with ivoroid, and the slotted headstock sports an Indian rosewood cover plate and Stew Mac Golden Age tuners with aged plastic buttons. The fingerboard is Indian rosewood and features deluxe inlay. Ebony pyramid bridge with bone cut-through saddle and ebony bridge pins.
