Troublesome Creek SD-1, Shallow-Body Slope D, Adirondack Spruce, Hackberry - NEW - ON HOLD

ON HOLD - PLEASE DO NOT ATTEMPT PURCHASE!

(NEW) Oh boy, we have something new and exciting!  Just when we think we've heard every tonewood combination, Troublesome Creek sends us this guitar featuring Hackberry (Celtis occidentalis, Celtis laevigata) back and sides.  This is a domestic hardwood most closely related to Elm, and to our ears it has similar tonal characteristics to walnut and mahogany.  This guitar is just GREAT sounding, very full with ample power and great articulation.  Design elements particular to Troublesome Creek's slope D include a shallow body design (closer to an OM than a Gibson or Martin-style jumbo) and a 13-fret body joint, which puts the bridge slightly deeper into the lower bout and increases bass response.  Everything came together perfectly on this one!

Adirondack spruce top, Hackberry back/sides and neck.  The guitar is nice and light at 3lbs 10oz, rare in a slope D silhouette, particularly one made with domestic hardwoods.  Visuals include split herringbone rosette, tortoise body binding and gloss top finish.  The neck is a comfortable low profile oval, with 1 11/16" nut, 2 3/16" string spacing at the saddle.  The scale length is long, 25 1/2" inches.  Fingerboard and bridge are ebony.  Tuners are Waverly.  Includes original hard case.

We love everything about this guitar!  Besides the fact that it is unique in so many ways, it was also crafted by the builders at Troublesome Creek, which is a not for profit shop and school training people we are in recovery from addiction.  Their mission is an important one and we're proud to have them in our shop!
