(USED) While this is the first of his instruments to grace our shop, the name Matt Arcara is familiar to us. Formerly a builder at Bourgeois Guitars, Matt struck out on his own in a big way (as many of the well-trained and talented builders from that shop do) and is making really compelling traditional guitars. Matt has decided to go back to the ol' dovetail neck joint on his instruments, and in many ways this dreadnought looks and sounds like a classic 40s Martin.
This "bone" has a lovely Adirondack spruce top and Panamanian rosewood back/sides. How does Panamanian sound, you ask? Well, it's lighter weight than average east Indian and seems to have more sparkle to it, great balance and note separation, but also body and depth. In other words, we approve! In all seriousness, this guitar has modern clarity but an "old soul" tonal footprint, it checks a lot of boxes.
1 3/4" nut, 2 5/16" string spacing at the saddle, long scale with a comfy mod-V neck profile. Classic "28" appointments include herringbone top trim, 3-ring rosette, ivoroid body binding, zipper back strip and diamond volute. The fingerboard and bridge are ebony, the pins are bone with abalone dots. The tuners are nickel Waverly.
Condition is EX+ with no issues, no real signs of play wear at all. Includes original hard case.
