Thursday, October 29th: give it up for some high-level bluegrass and Americana featuring Thomas Cassell & Nick Fallon!
Originally from the sacred bluegrass mountains of southwestern Virginia, Thomas Cassell is in the highest rank of modern bluegrass musicians. Cassell currently plays mandolin with the Wood Box Heroes, racking up numerous Grand Ole Opry performances with the band. Previously, he was a founding member of the innovative group Circus No. 9, and has performed as a sideman with Billy Strings, the Bryan Sutton Band, Trey Hensley, Nefesh Mountain, Jim Lauderdale, Bronwyn, and many more.
Cassell’s latest album, Guitar Collection, is out now on Common Loon Records. He will have Nick Fallon with him on this show.
In 2021 Cassell was named the National Mandolin Champion. He was also named the 2020 Momentum Instrumentalist of the Year by the International Bluegrass Music Association, 2021 FreshGrass Mandolin Champion, 2016 Rockygrass Mandolin Champion, and is a two-time alum of the prestigious Acoustic Music Seminar in Savannah Georgia, where he mentored under artists including Darrell Scott, Bryan Sutton, Mike Marshall, Aoife O’Donovan, and Julian Lage.
Opening the show will be regional bluegrass band The Old Willow, who play a mix of traditional and modern bluegrass with the utmost dexterity.
The show - seating is extremely limited! We are offering pre-sale on 65 tickets and then will revert to standing room only on the day of the show. Doors at 7pm, music starting around 8pm. $20 guarantees a seat, though not any seat in particular! First come, first pick. This show will be BYOB. Please call us at the shop with any questions!
