(NEW) The 14-fret OO/00 has been a huge hit from several of our builders, but Huss & Dalton is the shop that we use to really explore the outer boundaries of this model. We've done it in mahogany, rosewood, myrtle, ziricote, walnut, and with every top wood we could think of! This one is "new to us" and once again, lives up to our (high) expectations!
This lovely little guitar has a striking sinker redwood top, cherished for its long sustain and ultra-quick responsiveness, especially for finger style and light strumming. We chose rare torrefied curly maple for the back and sides of this box, hoping to strike a perfect balance between lushness and clarity, and wouldn't you know, that's exactly what we got! The tone of the instrument is complex, for sure, and still leans a little on the lush side... there is no unwelcome brightness that people associate with lesser maple guitars.
The T-OO14 is a short scale (24 7/8") instrument, and this one has a 1 23/32" nut width, 2 1/4" string spacing at the saddle, and a soft mod "V" neck profile. The appointments are relatively simple, as we chose to focus on the beauty of the tone woods. We've got a three-ring rosette, black/white/black top purfling and stealthy tortoise binding. The fingerboard and bridge are both lightly figured ebony. The tuners are Waverly with ebony buttons.
A distinctive guitar with an excellent sound and about as comfortable to hold/play as you could ever ask for. Huss & Dalton, you know how to move us!
