(NEW) We were just a little surprised when our friends at Huss & Dalton told us that not only had they wanted to build a classic electric guitar for sometime, heck they had actually started building them!! We knew that they would do it right, too... just like their world-class acoustic guitars, we knew that their first electric model would build upon tradition while retaining a serious commitment to craftsmanship. Thus, the Statesboro SC was born!
This Single-Cut model finds obvious inspiration in Gibson LP-style guitars, but as with anything worth doing, the attention to fine details pushes it to the next level. The body is solid mahogany, and the top is carved master-grade figured maple, set off handsomely by the trans black finish.
The pickups are Lindy Fralin Pure P.A.F. humbuckers, 7.5K in the neck position and 8K in the bridge position. The pots are 500K split shaft. The guitar has some weight to it at 9 lbs 5 oz, but the pickups help to turn that into a rich sustain.
Short 24 3/4" scale length, with 1 11/16" bone nut and a comfortable deep C neck profile. The ebony fretboard has H&D's original "Triple-Jones" inlay pattern, and the peghead is adorned with their "Hurricane" flourish. The tuners are super-smooth Gotoh 510s in cosmic black. The fingerboard has a traditional 12" radius and the frets are jumbo nickel silver. Includes original tweed hard case.
Our very first Statesboro SC! Before taking delivery, we asked Huss & Dalton to send it over to our friend Dale Adams, otherwise known as the Tone Doctor, for a full exploration video. Thanks, Dale! Now you know that this guitar sounds as good as it looks!
