(NEW) Ahhh, the simple joy of a fine 5-string banjo. We've had a happy and productive relationship with the folks at Huss & Dalton for twenty years now and we've sold hundreds of their guitars and banjos. Since the folks there are so amenable to special requests, we asked then to build a pair of banjo "sisters" for us: one a simple and unadorned mahogany banjo and the other a deluxe no-holds-barred slightly exotic big sister. Well here is Big Sister. She is an 11” figured maple necked open back banjo. We went with the best set of curly maple for the rim, and figured maple with a subtle aging toner for the neck and we finished it all in high gloss.
Big sister is a real lady in the sense that at her heart is the very best Whyte Laydie tone ring which is loud and it is sweet! It is downright "electric", but It does not have any metallic harshness, and can be heard across the dance floor, and dance she will!
This thing puts the “fun” in Fairbanks, and the “vroom, vroom” in Vega. “Electric,” it is ;-)
The tone is articulate and full with a healthy amount of sustain and formidable attitude. The nuts and bolts of this fine heirloom-grade instrument are finely tuned to serve several generations of eager musicians:
