Huss & Dalton Pilgrim, Large Sound Hole Dreadnought, Thermo-Cured Adirondack, Brazilian Rosewood - NEW

(NEW) Huss & Dalton started building a large sound hole dreadnought, a la the guitar played by Tony Rice, at our suggestion, some years back.  It instantly became a hit, and we've had it in some great tone wood combos.  This particular guitar, though, might be the best ever!  It's certainly the best that we've heard from the company, the warmest, most welcoming, most vintage-inspired sound that we've experienced in this model.  That's saying a lot, too, since these guitars always sound great!

This instrument, to be fair, has a couple of secret weapons: the thermo-cured top is pre-aged via torrefaction for dryness, responsiveness, punch and power.  The Brazilian rosewood back and sides are very special indeed, from the collection of Walter Lipton, top-shelf old-growth all the way.  It's a sight to behold, and the tone is about as good as it gets!  We had H&D do a light relic treatment on the top only, spraying nitro and inducing finish checking to break the surface tension, resulting in a very open tone.  The back and sides and neck are finished in smooth satin.

For specs, it's a long scale guitar with 1 23/32" nut and 2 1/4" string spacing at the cut-through saddle.  It has an ebony fingerboard with no position markers and ivoroid binding.  The peghead has a Brazilian rosewood cap and no logo.

For powerful bluegrass dreadnoughts possessing of warmth and spirit, it would be hard to do better than this Pilgrim.  An absolute gem.
