(NEW) The Traditional series from Collings continues to be very popular, especially for players who want a more comfortable, broken-in experience with their brand new guitar. When these were introduced 5-6 years ago, the idea was to tweak the specs just enough to add some warmth to the voicing, to lighten up the build a bit and to add a small amount of neck mass to increase sustain and provide a more vintage feel. Needless to say, all of these adjustments were a breath of fresh air to players who wanted the impeccable build quality of a Collings but were raised on older (traditional) American guitar brands.
This OM1T has a baked (torrefied) Sitka top, light and stiff, helping to give it a dry sound and super-quick response. Mahogany back and sides for strong note fundamentals and good string separation. The mahogany neck on the T series is a slightly fuller variation on the Collings modified "V" and sports a 1 3/4" nut and 2 5/16" string spacing at the saddle. Long 25 1/2" scale is the default on the OM1T.
Other appointments include 3-ring rosette and b/w/b purfling especially designed for the T series. High gloss finish, ebony fingerboard and bridge, Stew Mac faux tortoise bridge pins, Waverly tuners. Includes TKL hard case.
The ever-popular Orchestra Model has a reputation as a great fingerpicker, but we think you'll be equally pleased with the strumming and flatpicking voice!
