Collings OM1 Custom, Sinker Redwood, Figured Walnut, Short Scale - NEW

(NEW) Collings gets the job done, every shape, every size, every tone wood combo... even something relatively obscure like sinker redwood and figured walnut is nothing but compelling when rendered by Collings.  This highly customized Orchestra Model just arrived, and it's getting a lot of attention!

Sinker redwood has a sound reminiscent of cedar, but it ia a much stronger wood, overall, and has headroom more like spruce.  Walnut has always reminded us of the stiffness to weight ratio of good mahogany, with a similar fundamental tone and healthy sustain.  Though this is an OM1, it has ivoroid body binding, which contrasts the dark tone woods nicely.  

1 3/4" nut, short 24.9" scale, 2 3/16" string spacing at the saddle.  Compound radius ebony fingerboard with dot inlays.  Ebony bridge and pins.  The tuners are nickel Waverly machines.
