(NEW) Always a great day when the rare Collings electric makes it into the shop, and this one is a doozy! Collings' I-35LC is one of their most versatile electrics, and we've enjoyed it in a few dozen tone wood, finish and pickup combinations over the years. This guitar has a few newer options, like the lower-profile '60s neck carve (somewhat slimmer that the '59 "C" profile that usually comes on this model) and some high-clarity ThroBak SLE101 pickups. This guitar is usually fitted with Lollar Imperials, and we hear the ThroBak as more detailed and less saturated at higher output.
It's gorgeous, of course, with Collings' perfect sunburst and then the Aged Finish option for the lacquer. This introduces subtle finish checking on the body and peghead (the neck is smooth, no checking) and to complete the look, tarnish on the pickup covers and other metal parts. It is a subtle effect, visually, but we find that it has a profound effect on the vibe and comfort of the instrument. It feels like an old friend. In addition to our studio shots, we've done some natural light photos in the shop to accent this feature a bit more for you.
Laminated construction w/ flamed maple back. 1 11/16" nut, short scale. Bound rosewood fingerboard w/ abalone dot inlays. Hits the scale at 6 lbs 12 oz. Includes original Ameritage hardshell case.
We don't see many of these in a given year, and Collings still has a long backlog and a price increase on the books for 2022... skip the weight, save some dough, give us a call before it's gone!
