Collings DS1A HC, Hill Country 12-Fret Dreadnought, Adirondack Spruce, Mahogany - NEW

(NEW) We admit that we were a little surprised when the third entry in the Hill Country series was a 12-fret dreadnought, but boy, do we ever like it!  The look is absolutely classic, featuring Collings' precision craftsmanship and trademark clean lines.  There's nothing fussy about the look of this guitar, it's all about the tone and playability, which are perfect.

A 12-fret dreadnought tends to have a boom that is difficult to control, but Collings has landed on a wonderful voice for their HC version.  It has a balance and presence that will immediately endear it to flatpickers, strummers and bluegrassers alike.  It's not afraid of a little fingerstyle, either!

Adirondack spruce top (so clean!) with mahogany back, sides and neck.  Matching pick guard, heel cap, end wedge and rosette details from a resin pour unique to this instrument.  Long 25 1/2" scale length with 1 3/4" nut, 2 5/16" string spacing at the saddle.  Mod V neck measures .932" thick at the first fret, .973" at the ninth.  Ebony fingerboard with dot inlays, ebony bridge w/ cut through saddle and ebony pins.  Crisp looking dark ebony cap on the slotted peghead, Collings logo embossed on the back.  Waverly tuners, hard case.
