(USED, MINT) Long before the Traditional line was developed, Bill Collings and his team took a big step in that direction with the CJ-35. Built to emulate the jumbo models of the '40s (albeit with Collings' signature clarity and bullet-proof build style) the CJ-35 went where no CJ had gone before!
The CJ-35 is short scale by default, features an abbreviated (short) tongue brace and ramped (non-scalloped) Sitka bracing. It also has a Wenge fingerboard and bridge, a lightweight African tonewood that sounds like rosewood but wears like ebony. The aforementioned features are distinct to the model, and we feel like the CJ-35 stands up with any mahogany slope D out there.
This particular guitar has a Sitka spruce top (natural blonde finish) and dark-stained mahogany back/sides. It has a variation on the Vintage Now neck profile, which adds sustain via more neck mass. 1 3/4" nut width, generous 2 3/8" string spacing at the saddle. The cosmetics are simple, with ivoroid binding and no top purfling. Waverly tuners with ivoroid buttons. Includes TKL hard case.
