Collings C10-35 Deep Body (1st Ever!) Sitka, Maple (1st Ever!) - NEW - SOLD

SOLD

(NEW) Hopefully we caught your attention with the title of this listing!  Who doesn't like an NBD (Never Been Done) especially when it comes by way of that most excellent of shops, COLLINGS in Austin, TX!

Before the Traditional series, before Waterloo, Bill Collings had begun to look more to instruments of the past for inspiration.  Collings was no stranger to Gibson-style guitars, and his C10, CJ and SJ all have roots in Gibby designs.  When he started building the "35" style C10 and CJ guitars, the mission turned to not *immitating* vintage guitars, but taking the best qualities (light weight, quick response, warmer sound) and combining them with Collings' well established tone and quality of construction.  Now we've taken the concept even further, with the first ever C10-35 with DEEP BODY construction, not to mention the first C10-35 with MAPLE back and sides!

Our impulse should be obvious, based on our love of Nick Lucas models from a variety of great sources.  This guitar takes the punch and clarity of the maple 00 and extends the sonic range, lowering the resonant frequency with the increased body depth (3 3/4" at the neck block, 4 3/4" at the tail.)  It is obviously a beauty of the blondest persuasion, and the flamed maple and Sitka spruce are flawless under their clear coats.  Features unique to the "35" series include Wenge fingerboard and bridge (think the density of ebony with more of a rosewood feel and weight) and short 24 7/8" scale length.  The nut is 1 3/4" and the string spacing 2 5/16" at the saddle, and the neck profile is a close cousin to Collings' Vintage Now shape.  Chrome Waverly tuners with ivoroid buttons, ivoroid body binding and ivoroid logo.

We had to ask *really nicely* to get Collings to build us this fabulous NBD guitar, and now it's ready to be part of your collection!
