Collings 71, Ash Body, Ron Ellis Pickups, NAMM 2025 - NEW - ON HOLD

ON HOLD - JS - PLEASE DO NOT ATTEMPT PURCHASE!

(NEW) Always exciting around here when Collings rolls out a new model, and we were lucky to receive this, the first production example of the 71 from the NAMM 2025 show.  There was a little delay getting a proper case designed for the guitar, thus the four month lag since the NAMM show, but it arrived and has exceeded our expectations.

Originally prototyped for the Fretboard Summit last year, the 71 will replace Collings other level-top solid body, the LT-M.  The shape has been refined a bit with a new horn design on the bass side, which relieves a bit of weight.  It's very nicely balanced.  While a tremelo version is also available, this one has Ron Ellis pickups in a Telecaster configuration, featuring a lipstick-style pickup in the neck and a single coil in the bridge.  The body on this one is Ash with an Antiqued Olympic White finish (color, not aged) the neck is maple with a rosewood fingerboard.  1 11/16" nut, 2 1/8" string spacing at the saddle, long 25 1/2" scale.

The neck is a modified V shape that departs somewhat from the '59 C that is found on most Collings electrics.  Neck measures .856" at the first fret, .905" at the ninth.  The neck and body both sport a high gloss finish.

The headstock is painted black and has 6-on-a-side Kluson tuners.  The pick guard and truss rod cover are poured at Collings and the patterns are unique to the individual instrument (at an upcharge, more simplified production pick guards will also be available.)

The weight on this one is 6lbs 4oz and the guitar includes a nicely designed hard case.  The first of many 71s that we hope to enjoy over the coming years!
