Bourgeois M5-F Mandolin, Aged Tone Adirondack, Aged Tone European Maple - NEW

(NEW) New for 2023, we've got Bourgeois' first ever F model mandolin, another compelling entry into the mid-level mandolin market.  One thing that Dana Bourgeois can take a great deal of pride in is his evangelizing of torrefied tonewoods to the greater guitar world... what many consider to be the key to getting a dry, responsive, played-in sound out of a brand new instrument.  He has been doing it on guitars for about a decade, dubbing it Aged Tone, and all of the other manufacturers quickly followed suit.  Torrefaction has become a major component of the finer instruments being built today. 

While cooked wood is an option on Bourgeois guitars, Dana decided to make it standard on all Bourgeois mandolins.  There is a consistency to the sound, certainly, but the torrefied woods are also more stable and less susceptible to swings in humidity... a win-win, as we say.  

The new M5-F has a torrefied Adirondack spruce top and torrefied European maple back and sides (nice flame, no?)  It has clean, traditional lines with ivoroid binding throughout, ebony fingerboard and bridge, and custom James tailpiece.  These have a 1 5/32" nut width, 13 7/8" scale length and a lustrous high-gloss finish.  Included is a deluxe hard rectangular violin-style case.
