Bourgeois Aged Tone Vintage D, Torrefied Adirondack Spruce, Brazilian Rosewood - SOLD

(SOLD)

(NEW) FROM THE VAULT... Here we have a wonderful Aged Tone Vintage D from the early years of Dana Bourgeois' work with torrefied tops.  This guitar features a striking selection of tonewoods, with bearclaw Adirondack spruce and dramatic Brazilian rosewood back and sides.  Your eyes aren't deceiving you, the back and sides were from a submerged log, and the mineral deposits that were absorbed into the woods created streaks that run almost jet black.  This wood is coveted by the best luthiers, and everyone knows that Dana knows wood!

This guitar has hide glue construction, and Bourgeois' proprietary Aged Tone finish, which is extraordinarily thin and hard.  The guitar is able to breath properly, and it can be heard in the responsive, wide open sound of the instrument.  Indeed, we think that Dana's work with torrefied wood brought his dreadnoughts to a whole new level.  They became more powerful, but without losing their balance and articulation.

Specs on this instrument include 1 23/32" nut with 2.2" string spacing at the saddle.  The neck is Bourgeois' popular modified V with satin finish.  Full 25 1/2" scale length.  The appointments are all vintage-inspired, with herringbone top purfling, three-ring rosette, ebony bridge and fingerboard, and long pattern diamond/square inlays.  The braces are adirondack spruce, forward-shifted, attached with hide glue.  The tuners are nickel Waverly.  Fossilized bone bridge pins.  Includes original hard case.

This guitar is FROM THE VAULT, has never been sold or displayed in the shop, and includes full warranty to the lucky player who purchases it.  As Dana's latest Brazilian creations quickly drift into the $10k-$25k range, we feel fortunate to be able to offer this lifetime guitar!
