(NEW) Beard has captured our attention in a big way with these American-made, vintage inspired, wallet-friendly flat tops!
The latest offering in their Deco-Phonic lineup, the Southside is just a bit smaller than an average OM. With its short scale and with the placement of the bridge almost in the center of the lower bout, this box has tons of warmth and sustain. The sounds is still very dry (or "honest" as we've become fond of saying) but there is no hint of the boxiness or compression that we sometimes hear in some small guitars. At its price, it punches well above its weight class!
Solid Engelmann spruce top, laminated Finnish Birch back and sides give the guitar a substantial (though not heavy) feel, and we think it would make an awesome road and stage axe. Solid mahogany braces with X-pattern, deep-scalloped top bracing. 1 3/4" bone nut with 2 3/16" string spacing at the saddle. Indian rosewood bridge and fingerboard. Gotoh closed-gear tuners. Fully ivoroid-bound body with open-pore finish and full-body and neck sunburst. Includes hard case.
An absolutely charming new entry to the mid-price market. Bravo, Beard!
