(NEW, READ BELOW) Here's something that we've never seen from another one-man shop: a full featured travel-sized guitar with looks and playability that put it right up there with the big boys. Chuck Baleno came up with the concept a few years back, a guitar that would fit comfortably into a baritone ukulele case, and he accomplished that goal completely. The instrument is just 10 1/2" across the lower bout, with an overall length of 32 1/2". It ways just 2 lbs 11 oz!
Chuck used a Lutz top and Indian rosewood back/sides for this one, the neck is mahogany and believe you us, it doesn't feel like a fractional guitar as far as the left hand is concerned, maybe but for the short 23" scale length. The nut is 1 3/4" and the string spacing at the saddle is 2 1/4", the same as full-sized Baleno instruments, and the neck is a comfortable mod V shape. The fingerboard and bridge are rosewood, to keep down costs and weight.
This is truly a travel companion without compromise, a boutique instrument in every way. Includes hard case.
NOTE: For its uniqueness, this guitar gets a lot of attention in our shop... thus displays a bit of shop wear. We have drop-filled a few dings, but there are still a few very shallow ones in the strumming area. Nothing that would appear in photographs. We've reduced the asking price by $300 and the guitar still has full warranty from the builder.
The final image in the gallery shows two other Baleno builds, an SJ and a 12-fret 0, for scale. Not included ;)
