(USED) The wait is finally over (at least for one of you!) After a couple years of R&D and an announcement back in 2024, we're finally seeing our first Hill Country models roll in from Collings. They are as promised, and more! Even more rare is a minty USED example that is stage-ready with a K&K!
The idea behind the Hill Country was to take the Collings voice as far as it could go toward a vintage Martin-esque EQ curve, and the bracing patterns were modeled after specific high-performance vintage examples. The result is a Collings with the expected power and clarity, but also a warmer overall voice and a midrange that isn't as hot as either the original line or the popular Traditional models.
Adirondack spruce top, mahogany back, sides and neck. 1 3/4" nut, 2 5/16" string spacing at the saddle, long 25 1/2" scale. Neck description from Collings: "Full but not overly chunky Modified C to Modified V with a rounded fingerboard edge. 1st fret ~0.880" to 9th fret ~1.080" (each neck will vary a small amount due to hand work)"
Appointments include tortoise body binding, 3-ring rosette, dot inlays on the ebony fingerboard and a special set of hand-poured resin elements including pick guard, heel cap and rosette ring. Logo branded on the back of the peghead, Waverly tuners. This one has a smooth satin finish and sounds soooooo good. One of the best mahogany Ds that Collings has every made! Includes original hard case.
Big thanks to our friend Sam O'Hare for the excellent demo comparing this exact guitar to the Traditional model in the same woods. Condition here is excellent with no issues. K&K and strap button professionally installed (not pictured).
