2022 Collings OM2HA T, Traditional Model, Baked Adirondack Spruce, Indian Rosewood - USED

(USED) Who's looking for a "big boy" OM, from one of the best shops in the world, at a very reasonable price vs new?  As usual, AMW has your back!  This OM2HA T (T for Traditional) just came in on trade and it is, as we say, a good one.  Scratch that: a GREAT one.  Keeping up with everything great.  As loud as anything great.  Peeling the paint great!

The Traditional line was one of Bill Collings' last major projects before he left us in 2017.  He had worked long and hard at creating another voice for his world famous instruments, one that would have a warmer midrange and bring more, well, traditional-minded players into the fold.  He succeeded in a major way, and to this day the Traditionals stand as some of Collings' most beloved offerings, straight from the factory.

This particular OM2HA T has an additional head start in that it has a torrefied/baked Adirondack spruce top.  Torrefaction, as you probably know, advances the cell structure in the wood of the top, crystalizing the resins and effectively turning it into "old wood" on a cellular level.  More importantly, it hits the ears as "old" on a tonal level, with a dryer sound and quicker response.  Added bonus: less susceptible to swings in humidity!  We'll give you that one for free!  Now nearing its 15th year as a trusted process in high end guitar making, torrefaction is for real.  Better?  We'll leave that up to your ears.  Impressive?  Yes.

The back and sides are Indian rosewood, the neck is mahogany, with a 1 3/4" nut, 2 5/16" string spacing at the cut-through saddle, long 25 1/2" scale length.  The Traditional neck profile is a slightly bulker mod-V than Collings' standard version, but we can attest that it has slimmed down appreciably since the early days, and many days our hands can't tell the difference.

The "style 2" appointments are much the same as always, though the herringbone is a tighter weave on the T models, with a warm brown hue.  What makes the T models stand out is what's under (and all around) the hood: no tongue brace, lighter build, scalloped Sitka braces, rolled fingerboard edges and a thin nitro finish with no vinyl sealer coats.  One thing to mention there: they use a paste-based pore filler on these, which is a little more prone to shrinking, and it's evident on the back and sides of this guitar.  Doesn't effect performance, but the "full disclosure" is strong with us.  It's one of those things you might not even notice if we didn't bring it up.

Thassabout it, folks!  No structural issues at all, frets look basically untouched.  Includes TKL hard case.
