2020s Waterloo WL-14 XTR, Spruce, Mahogany, Jet Black - USED

ON CONSIGNMENT, NO TRADE OFFERS PLEASE!

(USED) By now you probably know how we feel about Waterloo guitars.  A passion project from Bill Collings, developed in his last years, Waterloo guitars evoke depression-era instruments that were very simply appointed, stripped-down versions of popular Gibson models.  The WL-14 is the flagship, an L-00 size available either ladder or X-braced, and possessing a dry, woody sound that thousands of players have found to be just the thing for a variety of music.  In particular, blues/ragtime players and singer/songwriters have trusted their Waterloo guitars to deliver the goods, night after night.

This relatively recent WL-14 XTR has plenty of honest play wear, so we're able to offer it at an under market price.  Rest easy, there are no structural issues, just a lot of cosmetic bumps and bruises (this thing got PLAYED!  Love it!)  It has a spruce top, mahogany back and sides, mahogany neck w/ original deep V profile, 1 3/4" ebony nut, 2 3/8" string spacing at the saddle, short 24.9" scale length.  X-braced with truss rod.  Rosewood fingerboard with dot inlays.  Stew Mac Golden Age tuners with cream buttons.

Back to the condition: there are a variety of dings, most prominently on the treble side of the lower bout.  It is not clear that a pick guard was ever installed, and there are plenty of swipe marks in the pick guard area and on the bass side of the sound hole.  There is some shine-up of the finish on the bass side lower bout, in the arm resting area.  Some shallow dings in the neck shaft, hard to perceive while playing.  Fret wear is actually minimal, a little bit under the B string in the first position.

Includes original hard case.  Great chance to snag a stage-ready Waterloo!  They are getting more and more rare by the day.
