(USED) If you are a fan of big, lush, warm guitars (and especially if you enjoy finger style guitar) then do we have an opportunity for you: this wonderful MJC has found its way back to us, in exquisite condition and with no issues.
Our redwood/walnut builds from Huss & Dalton have become pretty legendary around here. As you see, this is an absolutely beautiful instrument. The top is sinker redwood, reminiscent of cedar in tone, but structurally stronger and certainly more fun to look at. The distinctive black stripes are a result of mineral deposits left in the wood while it was submerged under water. The back and sides are curly figured walnut. Walnut, like mahogany, has a strong fundamental and brings a desirable clarity to softer tops like redwood. It's a combination that we've enjoyed many, many times, but particularly on mini jumbo and OM models. It's working *perfectly* here, believe us!
The MJ or "Mini Jumbo" is a 16" lower bout guitar, with a 4 3/4" body depth at the lower bout. This gives it most of the bass response and all of the presence of a dreadnought, but the tight waist design means that the sound is still balanced. A cutaway provides easy access to the uppermost frets. This is a long scale guitar with 1 3/4" nut and 2 1/4" string spacing at the saddle. Mahogany neck with comfortable low C neck profile and satin finish.
The cosmetics appointments include abalone rosette, curly koa binding on body, neck and peghead, and extensive b/w/b purfling lines. The ebony fingerboard has stingray inlays. The ebony bridge has ebony pins with pearl dots, and the saddle is nice and tall. The tuners are gold Gotoh 510, one of the smoothest machines available. Includes original TKL hard case.
This one is very special, a wood lover's dream and one of the most intriguing guitars in our shop!
