(USED) We feel that, without a doubt, the Authentics are the best new guitars that Martin offer. As you probably know, they are the most true interpretations of Martin's influential pre-war guitars, and they are recreated in exacting detail. This D-18 Authentic is based on the 1939 specs, and it will have you wondering if you've travelled back in time!
VTS (torrefied) Adirondack spruce top, mahogany back/sides/neck, hide glue construction throughout. It has 5/16" scalloped rear-shifted VTS Adirondack braces and maple bridge plate. It has a 1 11/16" nut and 2 1/8" string spacing at the saddle. The neck has the Authentic 1939 standard taper, and isn't nearly as chunky as many of the profiles that have appeared on Authentics from other years.
This guitar has an aged lacquer finish with vintage toner, a presentation that includes pre-checking of the lacquer, a duller gloss and some simulated bumps and bruises about the sound hole and peghead. Other than the cosmetic marks that Martin put on the guitar when they built it, it has no issues at all. No structural issues, basically zero fret wear. Includes original hardshell case.
