2018 Brier Road Baritone, Bearclaw Sitka, Macassar Ebony - USED

(USED) How low can you go?  How low do you want?  Still existing on the fringes of the acoustic guitar world, many gravitate toward the thick sound of baritone guitar to add different sonic textures or match their vocal range without the hassles of lower alternate tunings that a normal guitar may or may not be able to handle well.  This impressive baritone from Brier Road has the goods, a deep and rich sound that you can feel in your chest as you play.  We've had a few of Nick's builds come through the shop over the years, and we're always impressed with the craftsmanship, style and tone that brings.  

This one is built on a 12-fret slope or "DS" platform, and we think that this shape represents the lower registers very well (Collings also chose this shape for their baritone a few years back).  It has bearclaw Sitka on the top and Macassar ebony for the back and sides.  Macassar is an exotic rosewood variant that has a lot of overtones but retains their focus.  Good choice for this build!  Cosmetics include curly koa bindings, walnut top purfling, single ring rosette with ebony and walnut accents and a gorgeous "maiden hair" figured ebony fingerboard.  The Gold EVO frets were also a nice touch, and show almost no wear.  

1 3/4" nut, 2 3/16" string spacing at the (tall, bone) saddle, scale length is approx 27 3/8".  The neck has a modified low oval profile, and measures .81" deep at both the 1st fret and the 9th (non-aggressive taper).  There is an ebony back strap on the slotted peghead and gold Waverly tuners with snakewood buttons.  

Condition is great with a little bit of pick rash near the sound hole (see pics) and some very light scratches and wipe marks here and there.  Includes hard case.
