(USED) Here's a wonderful early example of Collings' Traditional dreadnought, featuring baked (torrefied) Adirondack spruce top, mahogany back/sides and neck. The Adi top is especially tight grained, it was obviously carefully chosen to make this an even more special guitar and took the Style 1 sunburst brilliantly.
This one has a 1 3/4" neck, 2 5/16" string spacing at the saddle, and is Collings' standard long scale at 25 1/2". In the early days the necks on the Traditionals were just a little chunkier, and this one measures .83" deep at the first fret and .993" at the ninth.
Traditional specs include forward-shifted, scalloped Sitka bracing, no tongue brace, small maple bridge plate and rolled fingerboard edges on an ebony board. The ebony bridge has a cut-through bone saddle and faux tortoise pins. It has Waverly open gear tuners.
Condition is great, there are some pick swipe marks on and around the pick guard but almost no fret wear and no structural issues, cracks or dings. As Collings go, it's a light one at 4lbs, 3oz. Includes the rare and coveted Collings handmade case with the early interior color (a sort of regal purple-ish blue).
One of the best bluegrass dreads money can buy!
