2016 Kevin Kopp OM-18, Bearclaw Carpathian Spruce, Mahogany - USED - SOLD

(USED) Long one of our top favorite luthiers for guitars in the Gibson tradition, it's not out of the ordinary for Kevin Kopp to occasionally build something that leans "Nazareth" if you know what we mean!  This very cool Orchestra Model has the warmth and balance that we want in this model, great mahogany sustain and a neck with a little vintage heft to it.

The Carpathian spruce top has runs of bearclaw figuring, and gives this instrument its sound, sparkly and inviting but never shrill or thin.  The mahogany retains its natural coloring, along with a subtly cascading figure pattern.  The fingerboard and bridge are Madagascar rosewood, and the peghead overlay is dark ebony.

The nut width is 1 3/4" and the neck profile is a nice full "C" shape.  Traditional long 25.4" scale.  The pins are bone, and the tuners are Waverly.

The condition is very good, with a few cosmetic imperfections but no structural issues.  There is some finish sink at the center seam, looking like a long finish check but certainly NOT a crack.  There are a few finish chips/dings on the peghead, and some light finish impressions on the back.  Hardly any fret wear.  Includes original hard case.

Another excellent example from our man in Montana!  This OM has a very welcoming subtlety, and would fit like an old pair of jeans for the right singer/songwriter.
