(USED) Perennially underrated as a tone wood, we actually LOVE maple guitars.  The clarity can't be beat, but it also has a satisfying growl when you dig in.  It has an attitude to it.  Beyond that, it looks gorgeous!  Collings makes some of our favorite blonde beauties, and this custom 002H is giving us a lot to smile about.

Built in 2014, this 002 is Collings' second smallest 12-fretters, based on the Martin design.  12-fret guitars are beloved for their comfortable body size, short scale, and the increased bass response that comes from the bridge placement.  It has "2" style appointments including herringbone top border, ivoroid body binding, and traditional 3-ring rosette.  The Adirondack spruce top is as nice as we could ask for, tight and uniform grain lines, and from the fabled Old Standard wood suppliers.

To make things even more interesting, all of the tone woods were subject to Frank Sanns' "A1" process before construction.  This proprietary process serves to optimize the tonal response of the wood, and while we can't exactly explain it to you, we've heard a lot of guitars processed by Sanns, and they always sound great.

So we've got wonderful Adirondack, flame-y maple with impeccably matched neck stock, short 24 7/8" scale with 1 3/4" nut width and 2 5/16" string spacing at the saddle.  The headstock is decorated with the beautiful traditional torch inlay, a $500 up-charge when ordered new.  The tuners are chrome Waverly's.

The condition is excellent indeed, with no cracks or dings, and barely a dusting of fret wear under the B string.  There are faint pick marks on the pick guard that can be seen when turned to the light.  The saddle is at full height, and the action is consistent with the Collings factory setup.

As a bonus, this guitar comes with an Austin TX-made Calton fiberglass flight case, white exterior, blue interior.  The case is in perfect condition and does not appear to have been travelled.  If you're looking for added value, this case happens to fit a 14-fret 0 guitar (like Collings 02H or Martin 0-28, 0-18) perfectly.
