Collings D1A Vintage Now Varnish, Bearclaw Adirondack Spruce, Mahogany - NEW - ON HOLD

(NEW) When this guitar was built in 2012, this was the pinnacle of the modern bluegrass dreadnought.  Premium Adirondack spruce (with subtle hints of bearclaw) over Honduran mahogany plus the coveted VARNISH finish was the "D18 on Steroids" that the world was searching for... and only Bill Collings could deliver!

Flash forward 6 years, and this time capsule condition D1A VN Varnish still impresses with its authoritative, thick and warm tone.  The thinner varnish finish means a warmer sound with quicker response.  The thicker Vintage Now neck profile adds a vintage feel for players who like the neck to fill up the hand, and the added mass certainly adds sustain to the guitars tone.  

1 3/4" nut with 2 5/16" string spacing at the saddle.  Cosmetics include tortoise binding, b/w/b purfling, three-ring rosette and dot inlays on the ebony fingerboard.  Waverly open back tuners.  Includes original hard case.
