2012 Aaron Morris 000, Adirondack Spruce, Brazilian Rosewood - USED - SOLD

SOLD !

ON CONSIGNMENT, NO TRADE OFFERS PLEASE!

(USED) The name Aaron Morris is a new one in our shop, but might not be new to some of you..  he has been building, repairing and restoring guitars since the late '90s, in and around Thomasville, North Carolina.  From our research, it appears that Morris is THE GUY in the area, his builds are traditional and show a complete understanding of instrument design and woodworking.  He is also lauded for his restoration work on vintage instruments, always a great skill set when building a reputation as a luthier.

Just in on consignment, we have a fabulous traditional 14-fret 000 in the Martin style, with the beloved tone wood combination of Adirondack spruce and Brazilian rosewood.  We see a lot of Martin-inspired guitars by builders of all eras, and believe us when we say that this one absolutely hits the mark!  The spruce top is tight-grained but with a bit of color variation and of course a decade of aging that has made it reach a lovely golden hue.  The Brazilian rosewood is the stuff of dreams, quarter-sawn with just a hint of spiderweb figuring.  The appointments are pretty traditional in the Martin "28" style, with herringbone top trim, 3-ring rosette, zipper backstrip, and diamond/square fingerboard inlays.  It also has fingerboard binding, bone pins and a cut-through saddle.

It has a 1 3/4" nut, 2 5/16" string spacing at the saddle, and Martin's traditional short 24.9" scale length.  The shorter scale produces just enough slack in the string to ease playability and add a layer of warmth to the sound.  That said, this one does not sound timid in the least!  It has a ton of punch and projection, much like a long scale OM would have.  The neck profile is somewhere between a traditional pronounced "V" and a modified "V".

Condition is excellent, with almost no visible fret wear, a couple very shallow dings in the top, and just a bit of shrink-back in the ivoroid butt wedge.  No structural issues of any kind, and the action is great.  A strap button has been installed in the appropriate position, and it includes a quality hard case.

A very VERY fine 000 for those who appreciate the tradition!
