2011 Gibson F-5G, Adirondack Spruce Top, Figured Maple B/S, Includes Tone Guard - USED

ON CONSIGNMENT, NO TRADE OFFERS PLEASE!

(USED) This 2011 Gibson F-5G is a modern interpretation of Lloyd Loar's revolutionary mandolin design, now rocking stages and bluegrass jams for 100 years or more.  This one has an Adirondack spruce top and some very handsome flamed maple on the back, sides and neck.  It has a rosewood fingerboard and bridge, grained ivoroid body binding and a traditional tobacco sunburst.  It also has a 1 1/8" pearl nut and pearl tuner buttons on brushed nickel tuners.

The instrument had some modifications done in 2015 by our beloved local mandolin builder Lou Stiver.  Lou expertly put a radius on the fingerboard and refretted with larger frets.  Lou also scooped the fingerboard extension, leaving 23 frets.  For a mandolin from this era, we don't consider these alterations to be sacrilegious, in fact, we feel that they would be much appreciated by a working player.  The new frets show only minimal wear and still have lots of life left.

There are some light wipe marks and very shallow scratches here and there on the instrument, but overall it's in excellent shape.  The consignor has included an ebony arm rest and a Tone Guard, so we'll pass those accessories right along to the next owner.  Original hard case included.

One last note: this is a pretty stout mandolin, weighing in at 2 lbs 8 oz with the Tone Guard on and 5 oz less without it.  Built to last!
