2010 Martin Custom Artist Series M-30 Jorma Kaukonen, Alpine Spruce, Indian Rosewood - USED

(USED) We don't exactly go looking for Martin guitars, but special ones seem to find us, with some regularity.  Special doesn't really begin to describe this custom Jorma Kaukonen model, this guitar is WONDERFUL.  For the uninitiated, the M model or 0000 is everything an OM is, only bigger, better and more bada$$.  If you ran into us on the mean streets of Pittsburgh and asked "One guitar to rule them all?" we would likely cite this shape.  Bigger surface area on the top means more bass and presence than an OM, but maintaining the OM body depth and tight-waist design means plenty comfortable.  

This model is a collaboration with the great Jorma Kaukonen, and we don't have to tell you who that is, other than to pay our respects to his massive contribution to blues and rock music dating back to the '60s.  As we understand it, Custom Artist models are limited but not necessarily to a certain number produced... this one happens to be #42.  

Italian Alpine spruce top, Indian rosewood back and sides, mahogany neck.  Large sound hole brings a distinct focus to a distinctly big sound.  Long 25.4" scale length with 1 3/4" nut and 2 1/4" string spacing at the saddle.  The neck is a Mod V shape and measures .874" at the first fret and .986" at the ninth.  Pretty distinctive set of appointments on this one: fully bound in ivoroid, marquetry top purfling and back strip, abalone rosette, combination torch and logo on the peghead, Style 45 rosette, long-pattern Maltese diamond & square inlay on the fingerboard with Jorma signature spanning the 19th and 20th frets.  Waverly tuners with ivoroid buttons.  

Condition is excellent, it's basically a time capsule with no dings, scratches, fret wear or structural issues.  Includes original hard case.  There is no provenance included (other than Jorma staring at you from inside the sound hole) but we do have a printout from Martin's website featuring full specs.
