(USED) These days there seem to be more one-man shops than ever, but back in the 90s and 00s there were only a handful of luthiers who had truly cracked the code on vintage instruments, usually through a lot of repair and maintenance experience on vintage examples. Michael Hauver is just one of these luthiers, he has a great reputation for his recreations of pre-war instruments, from Stellas to Gibsons, and this Nick Lucas has the "thing" that we look for in this model.
Adirondack spruce top and braces, mahogany back and sides, mahogany neck. Rosewood fingerboard and bridge, traditional sunburst, binding and inlay scheme. The neck could definitely be described as a full vintage V, it has a 1 3/4" nut, 2 1/4" string spacing at the saddle and a depth measuring 1.07" at the first fret, 1.155" at the ninth. The guitar has a 12-fret neck/body joint and the deeper Nick Lucas depth, 4 3/8" at the neck block, 4 5/8" at the tail. The scale length is short 24 5/8".
Condition is good with a repaired top crack on the treble side of the center seam and a small repaired back crack. There are some dings and scratches, and a few long lacquer checks on the top. Frets are in excellent shape with almost no wear presenting. We've priced this one aggressively based on condition, it's a lot of guitar for the money! Includes hard case.
