(USED) This one is going to get more than a few mandolin pickers excited! A very early serial # MF5 from only the third year of production, this gorgeous Collings has been played and loved by one owner since 2004.
Just like he did in the acoustic guitar world, when Bill Collings decided to start making mandolins, there would be no compromise. These world-class instruments have a power and balance that rivals the best ever made. This particular instrument has some lovely flame to the maple, a wide-grained Adirondack spruce top, and a radiant full-body sunburst finish. It has ebony parts, full ivoroid binding and a gold Collings tail piece.
The instrument has no cracks or deep scratches, but does have a fair number of small pick marks and dings. There are a few tuner marks and very light lacquer chips around the peghead. It is fantastic playing condition for its age, with light fret wear under the unwound strings. The setup remains at factory level, with lots of room on the wheels.
The 2021 price for an MF5 is $8,900... we're very happy to offer up this stellar example, signed by Bill, for a good bit less than that! Includes TKL case with Collings badge, or talk to us about upgrading to a Calton!
