(USED) The HJ-28 is one of Martin's biggest non-dreadnought models. They were never made in vast quantities, so it's fun to run into them in the wild. It's 16" lower bout puts it more in "Small Jumbo" territory than "Super Jumbo" like a J200... but the tight waist still keeps it comfortable to play and gives it a more balanced sound than a dread.
This one has a Sitka spruce top, Indian rosewood back and sides and a mahogany neck. 1 11/16" nut, 2 1/8" string spacing at the saddle, long 25.4" scale. The neck is a low oval shape and measures .854" thick at the first fret, .882" at the ninth. "28" style appointments include 3-ring rosette, white plastic body binding, herringbone top trim and zipper back strip. The fingerboard is ebony with diamond/square inlays. The tuners are Martin-branded closed gear.
Condition is very good with nice action and a lot of play time left on the frets. There is some light buckle rash on the back, a few pick dings in the top and one healthy gauge behind the bridge (about 2" long, not through the finish) that can be seen when the guitar is turned toward the light. Includes hard case.
