(USED) (1994) Gibson Earl Scruggs Signature Mastertone. This is the (standard) Scruggs model with maple neck and resonator, nickel hardware, and classic hearts and flowers pearl inlay and just enough light tarnish and wear to let you know this venerable 30-year old banjo has been played, not kept in a closet! The condition is very, very good.
Adding to the fun are railroad spikes at frets 7, 9, and 10. You bet it’s got Keith/Scruggs tuners for flights of fancy and Flint Hill Specials. It’s just undergone a pro setup and the tension of the frosted head reads 90 on the drum dial. Action is 3/32” at the 12th fret and 4/32” at the 22nd. Neck relief is a cool .005”. The bridge is a 5/8” Snuffy Smith and the tailpiece is the stock Presto.
If you are reading this (and you are, aren’t you?) you probably know what this is. If you don’t know, it’s basically a re-creation of Earl’s personal banjo and Mr. Scruggs did bless this series with his signature on the label (shown in pics.) The case is the original Gibson hard shell case.
