1994 Collings 000-41, Adirondack Spruce, Brazilian Rosewood - USED

ON CONSIGNMENT, NO TRADE OFFERS PLEASE!

(USED) We are so pleased to be able to offer this sparkly piece of Collings history, a lovely 12-fret 000 with Adirondack spruce and figured Brazilian rosewood!  It has been about a decade since Collings stopped building with Brazilian due to shortage of materials, but back in 1994 this "holy grail" tone wood was a regular option.  In a perfect world, we would use Brazilian for most rosewood builds, but since the world isn't going to be perfect any time soon, we'll content ourselves with fine pre-owned examples like this one.

The 12-fret 000 has approximately the same air volume as an OM, but the longer upper bout, as well as the bridge and sound hole placement give it a richer, more bass-forward tone than most Orchestra Models.  This guitar is highly resonant, a strum of the strings seems to vibrate the whole instrument.  It has all of the sparkle and articulation that we associate with Collings, but is also warm and musical.

This is a long scale (25 1/2") instrument with the standard slothead nut width of 1 13/16" and string spacing of 2 5/16" at the saddle.  It has a "41" style abalone top border and rosette, is full bound in ivoroid, and has ebony fingerboard and pyramid bridge.  The tuners are engraved Waverly with ivoroid buttons.  The peghead overlay is Brazilian rosewood.  The original pick guard was never installed, but is included with the guitar.

The condition is excellent for a nearly 30 year old guitar.  There is one repaired hairline crack in the back, addressed long ago and completely stable.  There are a few light dings on the top, and only minor fret wear under the unwound strings in the first and second position.  Includes hard case (inquire about upgrading to Calton!)
