(USED) Now here's a mandolin that could tell some stories! This wonderful F Model, built in 1989 by our friend Lou Stiver, has been locally owned for its whole life. It has seen many a bluegrass jam, many a mandolin orchestra performance, and has always been serviced by Stiver himself. It has the throaty chop of the best Loar instruments, but also a sweetness and complexity... it is a "vintage" Stiver, after all!
Adirondack spruce top with hand-rubbed dark sunburst. Tight flamed maple back and sides, and look at the wood on that NECK! Fully bound in ivoroid. Speed neck, replacement frets, pick guard and fingerboard scoop all by Stiver. Vintage-style flat fingerboard with 1 3/32" nut width. Tailpiece is James, of course.
Condition is excellent for its age, with various faint pick and swirl marks, but no cracks or heavy dings/scratches. Some light fret wear under the plain strings, but these frets still have a lot of life in them. Priced with black fiberglass case (contact us for other case options, if you have a preference.)
