1987 Martin D-45LE Limited Edition Commemorative, 50th Anniversary, Brazilian Rosewood - USED

ON CONSIGNMENT, NO TRADE OFFERS PLEASE!

(USED) A rare find indeed, fifty of these guitars were built in 1987 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the mighty Martin D-45, the most coveted flat top in acoustic guitar history.  Here we are now, another 35 years later... where does the time go??

Premium materials abound: Select Sitka spruce top, figured Brazilian rosewood back and sides.  Expansive abalone trim, including top border, fingerboard extension, rosette, side purfling, heel, fretboard and peghead face, neck and heel edges, end graft, bridge wings and even the back!  It's as pearly as it gets.  The open hexagon abalone fret and bridge wing markers are distinct to this guitar. Colorful abalone vertical C.F. Martin peghead inlay. Also specific to this guitar is the “signature edition top” where 31 members of the Martin production crew, as well as C.F. Martin IV, signed the underside of the top in ink.

1 11/16" nut width, 2 1/8" string spacing at the saddle, with pre-war style forward-shifted bracing.  Ebony fingerboard, bridge and tuner buttons.  Gold closed-gear tuners with Martin logo.

Condition is very good with some light finish checking around the rosette and coming off of the pick guard, along with some longer check lines on the treble side of the lower bout.  The frets show almost no wear.  The bridge came to us with a hairline crack developing off one of the bridge pins, so we had it replaced by Martin under their warranty, as the seller is the original registered owner.  A few light lacquer impressions in one spot on the back, and a bit more light lacquer checking (long lines, following the grain).  A bit of lacquer chip at the front of the bridge, very common on Martins from this time period.  The finish appears to be nice and thin.  Medium action with ample saddle height, this one can be dialed in to satisfy your setup needs.  Includes original molded hard case... call if you would like to discuss a case upgrade (Calton, Crossrock Carbon Fiber, Harptone, etc)

As collectable a modern Martin as you're likely to find!  It has *the sound* that so many of us grew up on. A lovely guitar with lots of mojo: A trophy for a life well lived and a sure-fire investment!!! Nothing in the acoustic-guitar world holds its value quite as well as a Martin D-45!
