2022 Gilchrist Model 4, Adirondack Spruce Top, One-Piece Maple Back - USED

ON CONSIGNMENT, NO TRADE OFFERS PLEASE!

(USED) What an honor to have this stunning re-creation of a Loar-era oval hole mandolin, executed in painstaking detail by Australian master builder Stephen Gilchrist!  No measurement or appointment was missed by ‘ol Steve, and this instrument feels and sounds as good if not better than the iconic instruments that inspired it.

The top and braces are solid Adirondack spruce, the back is just a spectacular one-piece slab of sugar maple and the sides lovingly selected flame maple.  The fingerboard is ebony with a 1 1/8" nut and 13 7/8" scale length.  The celluloid pick guard and even the re-creation pre-war cam clamp are both testament to Gilchrist's mastery.

This is just a fascinating mandolin from one of the world's pre-eminent builders. It is special. It is a trophy for a life well lived. The condition is excellent with just minimal fret wear and a few very shallow pick dings in the varnish finish.  Includes photo booklet with process photos, a couple of branded picks and a Calton hard case.

NOTE: Payment must be made via bank check or bank wire transfer.  Please inquire for details.
