(USED) Back in the pre-jazz era, when banjos were marketed as another parlor instrument, a passtime for ladies and children, the S.S. Stewart factory out of Philadelphia PA made a variety of smaller instruments, including this Lady Stewart model. This example has a 9" head, cherry neck and a plated rim with wood laminate interior. The scale length is 22 1/2" and it has a flat ebony fingerboard with skinny bar frets. Everything is in great condition, the friction pegs occasionally wander loose (as these typically do) but the nylon strings hold at pitch (open A or G seem fine) and it's a fun and interesting little banjo. Plate on the back of the peghead is engraved Abbie Gilbert, so let's just call this little lady ABBIE.
Includes gig bag.
