Collings C-00, L-00 Size, Sitka Spruce, Mahoany, Sunburst - NEW

(NEW) The C-00 is Collings' latest voicing for their 14-fret, Gibson-inspired 00.  Like the Traditional, Hill Country and 35 Series, the idea is to choose lightweight materials with excellent stiffness to create a voice more vintage-leaning than guitars in the standard line.  It looks like a C10, sure, but it doesn't sound or feel like one.  

This one has a Sitka spruce top with a gorgeous dark sunburst and dark-stained mahogany back/sides/neck.  Like the C10-35 before it, it has forward-shifted ramped Sitka braces and an abbreviated tongue brace.  The midrange is more rich than the preceding models, it's a very vibrant and responsive box.  The low end growl is very satisfying and there is volume to spare. 

The neck is substantial, certainly contributing to the sound.  It is short scale with a 1 3/4" nut and 2 5/16" string spacing at the saddle.  The shape is a vintage V that comfortably fills up the hand, and this one measures 1.015" at the first fret and 1.08" at the ninth.  You probably want to be a fan of vintage necks if you're curious about this guitar!  The fingerboard and bridge are rosewood, keeping the weight down, and the whole guitar comes in at 3 lbs, 9 oz (that's Waterloo territory!)  Waverly tuners with ivoroid buttons and a nice hard case complete the package.
