(USED) We've always been big fans of the CJ-35, and it was one of Collings' first big pivots toward a more traditional sounding flat top in the Gibby tradition. A number of specs distinguish it from the standard CJ: it is always short scale, it has an abbreviated tongue brace, ramped (non-scalloped) Sitka braces with an extra tone bar, and Wenge fingerboard and bridge to keep the weight down. The appointments are austere, just ivoroid body binding with no purfling, a 2-ring rosette, firestripe pickguard and simple dot markers on the fingerboards.
The CJ-35 has a 24.9" scale and a C neck similar to Collings' "Vintage Now" profile, 1 3/4" at the nut and 2 5/16" at the saddle. This one has an upgraded Adirondack spruce top, mahogany back/sides/neck. It has an ebony peghead overlay and Waverly tuners.
Condition is excellent with the smallest bit of fret wear under the unwound strings, in the first position. No structural issues, dings or scratches to report. The action has been taken down ever so slightly from the saddle bottom, plays exceptionally well. Includes original hard case.
This is a little beast of a jumbo! Very satisfying sound, high power, high clarity.
