(USED) Before L-00 guitars were as ubiquitous as they are today, Gibson had the good sense to go back into the archives and dig out the Nick Lucas model, a deep body version of one of their most popular shapes for folk and blues. This one from the mid 2000s isn't exactly a museum piece, but it's got curves in all the right places and a distinct bluesy growl in its voice. Part of the Historic Collection.
Sitka spruce top, mahogany back and sides with 12-fret construction. Deep body (4 1/4" at the heel, 4 3/4" at the tail) give it more rumble than standard depth L-00s. It has a traditional tobacco sunburst, plastic binding on the body, neck peghead and sound hole. Rosewood fingerboard with NL inlay pattern and a fleur de lis on the headstock. The scale is 24 3/4" with a 1 23/32" nut and 2 3/16" string spacing at the saddle. The neck is a mod V shape and measures .912" at the first fret, .984" at the ninth. Gotoh open gear tuners.
Condition is very good with some light pick swipes on either side of the upper bout on the top, a few light scuffs on the back and one long lacquer check near the binding on the upper bout. There are a couple drip marks and a small water stain deep in the box of the guitar that indicate a leaky humidifier that was caught quickly. The tuners have a fair bit of tarnish but function perfectly. No odors, no fret wear. Includes hard case.
