1979 Martin D-35, Sitka Spruce, Indian Rosewood - USED

ON CONSIGNMENT, NO TRADE OFFERS PLEASE!

(USED) Just arrived, the model that got people talking about Martin all over again through the 1970s: the D-35.  While nowadays we're used to Martin tweaking specs for their base models year after year, the D-35 was one of the first "new" Martins in quite a while at the time of its release.  This example has some miles on it and its share of bumps and bruises, but it's in great playing condition and ready to serve once again.

Sitka spruce top, Indian rosewood back and sides with 3-piece back, ebony fingerboard and bridge.  The neck is a modified V shape with a 1 11/16" nut and 2 1/8" string spacing at the saddle.  The thickness of the neck measures .872" thick at the first fret and 1.024" at the ninth.  It has rear-shifted, non-scalloped Sitka braces and a rosewood bridge plate.  Being pre-1984, it has no adjustable truss rod.

All of the serious maintenance has been done on this one, as there is evidence of a neck reset, bridge reglue and a full re-fret.  The action is 3/32" at the octave at the 12th fret.  Healthy cosmetic wear including a patch of finish removed by strumming above the sound hole, some finish wear inside the sound hole, a sizeable gouge in the lower bout near the center seam (possibly touched up?) and finish checking all over.  Again, plays just fine, but one you won't have to baby.
