1936 Gibson L-00, Adirondack Spruce, Mahogany - USED

(USED) This one might be considered a Holy Grail for many blues, old time and folk pickers, and indeed it seems that everyone with those tendencies immediately b-lines for this guitar when they come to our store!  While we don't know the entire repair history of its almost 90 year run (our consignor purchased the guitar used, in the days before internet collectors divulged all the specs) we can report on its remarkable current condition and playability, and strive for accuracy at all times. 

This guitar dates to 1936, has an Adirondack spruce top, mahogany back/sides/neck, and is in excellent working order.  The finish, while displaying a good amount of gloss, does have subtle checking throughout and some nice dings/scratches for character.  We can't rule out an overspray at some point in time, but if it happened it was surely a very long time ago, with the checking on display here.  The bridge is a replacement with a drop-in saddle, and based on the great action we can assume a neck reset has taken place, though there is very minimal belly/body distortion and we can't be absolutely certain.  The same can be said for the frets, they show minimal wear and a larger profile than we would expect from the originals, so we assume replacement on those.  The tuners are Grover open gear, replacing the original 3-on-a-plate.  Structurally it's in great shape with a cleated pick guard crack and one perfectly sealed cleated back crack.

Now to the specs: ramped X-bracing with two ramped tone bars, all braces holding strong and appear original.  Expected pronounced V neck profile with neck measuring .97" thick at the first fret, 1.075" at the ninth.  Nut width is 1 3/4" and the string spacing at the saddle measures 2 1/16".  Short 24 3/4" scale length.

The sound is dry and satisfying, it's exactly what you're hoping it is!  Playability is superb.  Includes non-original hard case.
