(NEW) Another fabulous flattop from our friends at McPherson. If you haven't heard, McPherson has re-designed the American steel string guitar from the ground up, using innovative construction techniques and only the best materials to create some of the most lush and luxurious instruments on the market today. They've made a big impression on us, and we're not easily impressed! To take the lush/overtone factor up to "11" we have been fond of ordering our MG guitars with redwood tops.
Redwood is softer than spruce but stiffer than cedar, so the tone of the guitar overflows with warmth and richness, while not being afraid of a pick or a more confident right hand attack. The strummed sound is the stuff of legend, and of course, fingerstyle playing benefits from almost endless sustain.
This guitar has Indian rosewood back and sides, with koa binding throughout, a mahogany neck with cantilevered fingerboard extension (helps the top to vibrate even more!) and the perfect construction and miters that we expect from this shop. The fingerboard is ebony, and the frets are Gold EVO, very strong and harder to dent than normal frets.
The MG is a long scale guitar, 25 1/2" to be exact, and this one has a 1 3/4" nut and 2 3/16" string spacing at the bone saddle. All McPherson guitars ship with a medium saddle installed and a "low" saddle on the side. We think they play great with the medium, but it's so simple to go low if you have a really light touch. Heavy-duty Ameritage hard case and custom feedback buster also included.
Step up to McPherson! Complements any fine guitar collection beautifully!
