(NEW) Sometimes a guitar comes along that strikes fear into the hearts of all the other instruments in the shop. Here we have such an instrument: the always powerful Huss & Dalton TD-R, we are not strangers to this wonderful model... but this one is so souped up, so turbo-charged, so overflowing with exquisite design details... it makes everything else feel a little plain by comparison.
The star of the show is the perfectly quartered Cocobolo back and sides, one of the nicest looking sets we've ever seen. Full stop. It doesn't get better than this from an aesthetic standpoint, but the sound is something to behold. Pulling its own weight is the thermally cured (torrefied) Adirondack spruce top, tight-grained and golden brown from the process. We'll often say that torrefied tops aren't inherently better, but different when compared to their uncooked counterparts, but you guys... this guitar is making a serious case for the power and responsiveness that comes with torrefied Adi. No break-in period, no stiffness in the sound, this one is ready to go.
Let's get back to that Cocobolo: as if it wasn't enough to have these beautiful back and sides to drool over, our friends at H&D brought in equally perfect stock for the headcap, the fingerboard and the bridge! Other appointments include full head, neck and body binding, abalone rosette with wings, and Waverly vintage oval tuners.
Long scale with 1 23/32" nut, 2 3/16" string spacing, cut-through saddle (nice and tall!) Includes original hard case.
