(NEW) We always love it when we get a "first" and this is the FIRST dreadnought that Huss & Dalton has built using Wenge for the back and sides! Though it is on the plain side, visually, Wenge is an excellent tone wood with a similar complexity of sound to Brazilian rosewood. Thankfully, Wenge isn't a protected species like Braz, so we are able to commission fabulous guitars like this one at only a moderate up-charge over Indian rosewood.
This D-RH features a thermo-cured (torrefied) Sitka spruce top, our go-to top wood for many of our Huss & Dalton builds these days. It's a nice compliment to the aforementioned Wenge, resulting in a guitar that has high clarity without being strident. Being a D-RH, the top and back feature tighter radii, and the sound hole is slightly larger than traditional dreads.
The nut is 1 23/32" and the string spacing at the saddle is 2 1/4". The fingerboard, bridge and pins are all ebony, and the body is bound in maple. The mahogany neck has a modified "V" shape and satin finish. The tuners are Waverly.
If you're looking for that next big tone wood revelation, maybe it's time to give Wenge a spin! Includes original TKL hard case.
