(NEW) People think we're being cheeky (and maybe we are) when we say that Collings guitars are boringly consistent.  The intimation, of course, is that they are consistently great!  35,000 guitars in and we still haven't heard a bad one!  All that said, sometimes a guitar comes along and our ears can't help but perk up a little bit, especially when it's a new-to-us tone wood variation or a model with previously unavailable design features.  This OM1G Traditional is just such a box, inspiring our age-old "Well of course it's great..." and also our "DANG!  Would you listen to THAT!" 

Collings has been a little quiet about the fact that, yes, German spruce is available as an option on the Traditional series.  Sometimes overlooked for the more affordable/ubiquitous Sitka or the more traditional/luxurious Adirondack spruce, German spruce actually has the best qualities of both: the warmth and instant gratification of Sitka, coupled with headroom and tonal complexity that goes toe to toe with Adirondack.  Don't sleep on the German spruce, friends!

This OM1G T is just one heck of a guitar.  Lightweight, and quite loud without sounding brash.  Being a Traditional model, it has a slightly fuller Trad neck, modified "V" shape w/ 1 3/4" nut and 2 5/16" string spacing at the cut-through saddle.  It has forward-shifted, scalloped Sitka braces and no tongue brace.  It has a teeny-tiny maple bridge plate.  It has a thin nitro finish.  Call it "modern vintage" or call it "vintage modern" it's delivering the goods!  Full 25 1/2" scale length, Waverly tuners, ebony fingerboard and bridge, faux-tortoise pins and binding scheme.  Includes TKL hard case. 

Collings always takes it to the next level, and this one might even be a level above that... Collings Plus!!
